ICARUS WITCH ANNOUNCED AS OPENING BAND FOR Y&T SUMMERTIME TOUR!
Photobucket

It's a good thing we didn't unpack out bags from the Paul DiAnno tour yet because we just got word from Brian Perera at Cleopatra Records that Icarus Witch is confirmed to tour America once again.

This July & August we will be crisscrossing the country opening for one of our all-time favorite bands, Y&T! Their classics like "Mean Streak," "Midnight In Tokyo," "Forever," "Don't Stop Runnin'" and "Summertime Girls" have always been the perfect soundtrack to summer partying. Now we'll get to hear them played at full volume in a different city every night after warming up the crowds.

Y&T will be touring in support of Facemelter, their first studio album in 13 years on Frontiers Records. Icarus Witch will continue promoting the recent release, Draw Down The Moon, this time with former Dirty Looks guitarist/backing vocalist, Christopher Shaner as the new frontman and DiAnno guitarist, Ed Skero on 2nd lead guitar.

See you on the road - No Rest For The Witches Tour 2010

ICARUS WITCH ANNOUNCE NEW VOCALIST

We are excited to announce yet another massive shift in our ranks as we welcome new vocalist Christopher Shaner to the Icarus Witch circle and part ways amicably with original vocalist, Matthew Bizilia. Matthew's contributions to the band have been immeasurable over the past six years. While this was a serious decision for both parties, professional differences of opinion led to the change. Bizilia is a phenomenal talent who will always be a part of the Witch family as we wish him much success on his future ventures.

Incoming vocalist and Erie, Pennsylvania native Shaner is a long time friend and collaborator of guitarist Quinn Lukas. Before Quinn moved to Pittsburgh to join Icarus Witch in 2006, he had worked on various musical projects with the singer. Much like the recent acquisition of second guitarist Ed Skero, the choice to add Christopher to the band was based on a combination of what he brings to the lineup personally, musically and professionally. His powerful vocal range, sense of harmony and intense work ethic are a perfect fit for the next phase of this band. Writing for the follow-up to Draw Down The Moon has already commenced with the new recruits and it promises to be the band's most diverse, melodic and epic release ever.

Friends of the WITCH can get a taste of the new lineup as Christopher and Ed make their debut at Pittsburgh's Hard Rock Cafe Friday, May 28th, where the band will be opening for Lizzy Borden. Also on the itinerary are the Warriors Of Metal III Festival in Ohio this June, and some exciting tour news to follow in mere days.

Draw Down The Moon is now available for a limited time to stream in its entirety on myspace, so tell your friends.

"The latest from USA traditional metal merchants hits you between the eyes from the start... Easily their best to date." 8.5/10 - Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles

"In a just world, Icarus Witch would be playing to sold out theaters from coast to coast - they have that dramatic charm and musical skills to keep everyone happy and looking forward to future records." 8/10 - Blistering

"...a pretty solid album from one of America's leading up and coming heavy metal bands." - Metal-Rules

ICARUS WITCH ADDS 2ND GUITARIST...WELCOME ED SKERO!

Many people have mentioned over the last few years that they miss hearing Icarus Witch as a 2 guitar lineup with the harmonies, rhythms and dual leads intact. Our position was that we also enjoy hearing those elements but did not want to inject a new, unknown member into an equation that was already running so smoothly on stage. While on the Paul DiAnno tour we were fortunate enough to have that 2nd guitar slot for Paul's set filled by a phenomenal talent in Pittsburgh area guitarist, Ed Skero (aka Full Metal Duffy)

Performing that challenging set every night with Ed on stage proved a couple of things:

a) We sound better with the additional guitar &

b) We got along so well with Ed on a personal level that the chemistry was right to make the move.

So join us in welcoming Mr. Ed to the inner circle. Once you hear what he will bring to the band in terms of classic style, vintage tone, tasty writing and Reiki healing prowess, it will be obvious that the Witch is about to take it up a notch on record and on stage every night.

Namaste Duffy...your life is about to get weirder than you ever imagined.

A LITTLE TASTE OF THE NEW WITCH?

The 3rd full length CD, [4th overall] from traditional metal stalwarts Icarus Witch mysteriously entitled, Draw Down The Moon, will be released February 9th, 2010 through Cleopatra Records / Koch Distribution. The band was recently described as having a "Heavy influence of Iron Maiden combined with good old fashioned hard/rock metal production and great musicianship" by Don Jamieson, host of VH1 Classic's That Metal Show. Perhaps this assessment helped land the boys the opening slot on original Maiden crooner, Paul DiAnno's first American tour in over 15 years, commencing this January 27 in NYC.

Britain's prestigious Metal Hammer magazine recently drafted Icarus Witch for both their cover mount compilation CD as well as an interview on their feature about the explosive rise of traditional metal with the younger generation of bands, referring to the Witch as "One of the best new bands to take up the NWOTM (New Wave of Traditional Metal) standard and carry it triumphantly into the future." With such accolades, the pressure is mounting for the group to top their previous efforts, a feat which has been handily accomplished by the creation of this new album, their first since 2007's critically acclaimed, Songs For The Lost.

With a few years of regional headline touring under their belt as well as supporting everyone from Heaven & Hell and Coheed & Cambria to 3 Inches Of Blood and Trouble on the road, the boys honed their live chops and discovered the formula for what translates to a frenzied crowd and what passages are better left for the headphones. The end result is a nine song battle cry called Draw Down The Moon which sees the band in a more mature, yet increasingly aggressive song writing mode, stripped of the extraneous bells and whistles of synths & samples. This is a back-to-basics, classic metal album with a raw, in-your-face production (once again with Eric Klinger at the controls) that owes as much to '70s Marshall overdrive and gothic tales of yore, as it does the 80s flash and modern metal trappings that have become de rigueur in this burgeoning scene Icarus Witch is alleged to have helped establish. Apparently the time machine has been set to reverse, and once you dig your teeth into the muscular framework of this future occult rock classic, you will forget about eras, genre tags and hype, and realize what truly matters most...this band knows how to fucking ROCK!

Enjoy this little sample platter of sights and sounds from the forthcoming disc, produced in conjunction with JFrog Media.
